Adjusting To A New Monday

A woman has shared how being laid off has changed her weekly routine, saying she is still learning how to adjust to life without the work schedule she had become used to.

In a video, she described her fourth week after being laid off and said she unexpectedly woke up with “Monday blues.”

She also revealed that she had struggled to sleep the night before. As she reflected on why, she realized that Mondays had previously followed a familiar pattern. For a long time, Monday meant waking up early, getting ready, heading to work, seeing her colleagues, and starting another week in the office.

That routine is now gone.

She said the change felt strange because while her circumstances had changed, her body still remembered the routine she had followed for so long. Her experience shows how a familiar work schedule can remain part of a person’s daily habits even after employment ends.

Focusing On What Comes Next

Rather than focusing on what she has lost, she said she is trying to remind herself that she is rebuilding.

As part of that process, she has started making changes to her routine and setting aside time for different areas of her life. She shared that she had scheduled a therapy session for herself and was also meeting a career coach.

At the same time, she has taken on some part-time opportunities, including live streaming and user-generated content creation. She said she was grateful for the opportunities she had been given and that keeping herself busy had also become part of her new routine.

With her previous Monday schedule no longer in place, she said the start of the week now feels very different. Still, she said she is learning to create a new routine and accept that the change may be part of her next chapter.

Creating a New Chapter

The TikToker also spoke about spending more time with her pet while adjusting to her new schedule.

For her, the weeks following the layoff have involved finding different ways to structure her days while exploring work and career opportunities.

She ended the video by saying she is creating a new chapter one day at a time.

The post received supportive comments from viewers, with several people encouraging her as she works through the transition. One commenter joked that her secret to coping was the “unconditional love” of her furry companion. She replied that he had been keeping her company throughout the experience.

Another commenter wrote that they were cheering for her “new routines and chapter,” while another encouraged her by saying that the best is yet to come. One viewer also suggested that she use the extra time to plan her mornings, have breakfast, and focus on controlling her own schedule.

For now, she continues to adjust to life after being laid off, balancing new opportunities with a different daily routine. Her fourth week has brought a different kind of Monday, but she is continuing to build a new routine and move forward one day at a time.
