Family Dispute Escalates to Violence
A long-standing family dispute took a turn when a father deliberately rammed his SUV into his son at a car wash in Dalmuir, near Glasgow.

The incident, which occurred in July 2021, was reportedly fueled by accusations of infidelity.
Kamil Mohammed Nadir, 55, drove his Mercedes SUV into his 40-year-old son, Rebath Kamil, after suspecting that Rebath had spread claims of his alleged affair within the family.
The situation escalated when Nadir confronted his sons at their car wash business.
CCTV Footage Captures the Moment
Surveillance footage from the car wash showed Nadir accelerating his vehicle, striking Rebath, forcing him against a wall.
Large barrels of water burst from the impact.
According to Daily Mail, while the CCTV had no audio, the court heard that after the collision, Rebath cried out, “You tried to kill me over a woman.”
Conflicting Testimonies in Court
Initially, Rebath told police that his father had accused him of spreading rumors about an affair. He reportedly stated that his father drove at him intentionally, saying,
“I would say that my dad was trying to kill me. He drove the car straight at me and he hit me with it. If he was trying to scare me he would have stopped the car but he didn’t.”

However, in court, Rebath denied making those remarks, claiming his English was not good enough to express such a statement.
He also said he had no memory of the attack and even asked if he could approach his father in the dock to “kiss his hand.”
Son’s Statement Changes During Testimony
Meanwhile, Nadir’s youngest son, Datsan, initially told police that he and his other brother Daban had restrained and struck their father after witnessing the attack.
He recalled that their father had shouted threats before driving into Rebath.
However, on the witness stand, he retracted parts of his statement, saying he had “fabricated” some details and no longer remembered exactly what had happened.
Prosecutor Challenges Son’s Testimony
Prosecutor Donald Davidson pressed Datsan on his changed testimony, reminding him that his initial statement was given on the same day his brother was injured.
Davidson stated that Datsan had originally told police the truth when he said his father had threatened him, saying, “That’s what I will do to you.”

The prosecutor also questioned whether Nadir had shouted in Kurdish, “I’m going to kill you all,” before driving the vehicle into Rebath, which Datsan acknowledged was “the truth at the time.”
Defense Argues Nadir Was in Distress
In Nadir’s defense, his lawyer, Paul Mullen, argued that his client had been deeply distressed over his marriage breakdown and had not been in a stable state of mind during the incident.
He suggested that Nadir had not intended to harm his son but had instead been trying to hurt himself, The Scottish Sun reports.

Mullen also said that a local Kurdish community leader had helped with Nadir’s separation from his wife and that the family tensions had worsened because of it.
He then asked Datsan if his father had raised his hands in the air and said he was trying to kill himself.
Datsan stated that he couldn’t remember but described his father as looking “shocked and pale-faced.”
Court’s Verdict and Sentencing
After a three-day trial, a jury found Nadir guilty of assaulting his son in a way that endangered his life.
Judge Scott Pattison, who ordered Nadir to remain in custody, remarked,
“It seems to me you drove your car right at him as he worked and that you did that deliberately and at speed. It was good fortune that he was not fatally injured.”
Nadir is set to be sentenced in April.
