Corporate events are typically opportunities for professionals to network and engage in a respectful environment. However, for Natasha or @/natashatannnnn on Tiktok, one such event turned into an uncomfortable experience when a colleague crossed several boundaries. In her Tiktok video, Natasha recounted the shocking behavior she faced from a man she had never spoken to before.
Unfamiliar Face, Unwanted Comments, and Inappropriate Behaviour
As the event host, Natasha was approached by an associate she had never spoken to before. Out of nowhere, he said to her, “You know what, Natasha, I’m gonna tell everyone that at the next event, you’re gonna show up in a Japanese maid outfit.” Natasha was left speechless by the bizarre and inappropriate comment, especially since it came from someone she had no previous interaction with.
As the night went on, the man, who had had too much to drink, continued to interact with others at the event. Toward the end of the evening, he approached Natasha again, this time crossing a more personal boundary. He placed his hand on her abdomen and asked, “Did you gain weight?” When Natasha said she hadn’t, he insisted, “I think you did,” before laughing and quickly walking away. Natasha and her colleague, who witnessed the exchange, were left in shock.
Taking the Matter to HR
At first, Natasha wasn’t sure what to do. Was this something serious enough to report to HR? However, after confiding with another colleague, she realized just how inappropriate the man’s actions were. Encouraged by her colleague, she decided to report the incident, believing that such behavior should not be tolerated in a professional setting. Adding to her curiosity, Natasha asked other women watching her video how they would react to this type of situation.
Update: Ongoing Situation and Lack of Resolution
In a recent update, Natasha revealed that despite her report to HR, the colleague remains employed at the company. She mentioned that she saw him on her second-to-last day and expressed her frustration at the lack of resolution.
Natasha shared that HR informed her the matter was handled confidentially and privately, leaving her with no knowledge of any consequences or actions taken against the colleague. The only communication she received from HR was a brief email stating that the case was closed. Natasha also addressed the skepticism from online commenters, confidently sharing her story and standing by the truth of her experience despite public doubts.
