Hundreds of dogs and their owners gathered at Tokyo Big Sight on Sunday for an unusual Guinness World Records challenge during the annual London Dog Festival, attempting to see how many dogs could stay seated for 30 seconds.

Footage shows rows of dogs sitting beside their owners as handlers tried to keep them focused despite distractions from nearby pets and the busy festival surroundings.

The task appeared simple, but keeping hundreds of excited dogs still proved a challenge as some broke position before the time was up.

“We challenged today, and even though she could only manage 15 seconds at home, she somehow succeeded today,” a pet owner said.

“There are so many people, it’s amazing,” added dog owner Saito.

The Guinness World Records attempt took place during the London Dog Festival 2026, one of Japan’s largest dog events, held at Tokyo Big Sight’s East Hall 8.

Official results from Guinness World Records are expected to be announced in the coming days.
