Unusual Visit to a Local Office
Workers at a small government office in northern Italy recently noticed something very strange on 16 November. A person who looked like an elderly woman arrived to renew an ID card, but something did not feel right.
Her movements were unusual, and her voice did not sound natural. Staff began to wonder why this visitor looked nervous and avoided eye contact. They soon realised this was not a normal appointment at all.
A Suspicious Disguise Raises Questions
The office employee said the “woman” wore a long skirt, bright lipstick, and old-style earrings. But the person’s neck looked thick and their hands did not look like the hands of an 80-year-old woman. When the visitor spoke, the voice sounded soft at first, but suddenly became deep. This made the staff member alert the authorities.
Identity Check Leads to a Shocking Truth
When police arrived, they asked for documents and checked the visitor’s details. They compared the office photo of the real elderly woman with the person standing in front of them. The difference was clear.
Police soon confirmed the visitor was actually the woman’s adult son wearing a disguise. He had used makeup, a wig, and clothing to pretend to be his mother so he could continue collecting her pension.
Police Search the House
After discovering the truth, officers went to the man’s home to check on the real elderly woman. They expected to find her alive, but instead, inside a small storage room, they discovered a body wrapped in sheets and kept inside a sleeping bag.
The room was tightly closed, and the air felt cold and dry.
A Grim Discovery Inside the Home
Police said the body was in a “state of mummification,” meaning it had become dry and preserved over time. Investigators believe the woman had died several years ago, but there was no official death report.
The son had continued living in the house while hiding her remains. He is now under investigation for fraud and illegally concealing a body.
Authorities Continue the Investigation
The body was taken to a hospital mortuary for a detailed examination. Police are now checking financial records, property documents, and pension payments from recent years.
Local officials said the case is extremely unusual and has shocked the quiet town where the family lived. More information will be released as the investigation continues.
