Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono expressed his condolences following the death of TNI soldier Praka Fahrizal Rhomadhon, who was killed Sunday while serving with the UNIFIL peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon.

“[On behalf of] the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, we convey our deepest sympathies. We also strongly condemn this incident and vehemently denounce the attacks carried out by Israel in the Southern Lebanon region,” Sugiono said in an address from Tokyo on Monday.

He paid tribute to the fallen soldier, noting that Ramadhon had “given his best, not only bringing honour to Indonesia’s name but also carrying out a humanitarian mission that is vital for peace and the survival of humanity.”

The Foreign Minister confirmed that the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut is closely monitoring the situation as authorities coordinate the deceased’s repatriation and funeral rites.

“We demand a full investigation from UNIFIL to identify the source of this incident. Once again, we call upon all parties to engage in de-escalation,” he concluded.

According to the UN, three Indonesian peacekeepers have been killed in Lebanon in 48 hours. Praka Fahrizal Rhomadhon died Sunday near the village of Adchit al-Qusayr, and two more were killed Monday morning in Bani Hayan when an explosion hit a UNIFIL logistics convoy.

Israel’s military said it is reviewing the incident, while the IDF confirmed its forces had been operating nearby overnight, targeting Hezbollah fighters allegedly preparing mortar attacks. Meanwhile, the UN has also launched an investigation into the ‘origin’ of the attacks.
