A Malaysian woman, referred to as “Ms. Y,” recently shared her emotional struggles through DJ Chan Fong’s 大城心事 Facebook page on August 22, 2025.

Married for 13 years and together with her husband for 18, the couple shares one child.

While he appeared to be a kind husband to others, Ms. Y revealed that she had long struggled with his emotional distance and cold responses whenever conflicts arose.

Early Signs of Trouble

Ms. Y said her concerns began in April 2025.

While trying to locate her misplaced phone at home, she borrowed her husband’s phone to call her phone. Ehile doing so, she saw a WhatsApp message from a female colleague sent at 2 a.m., wishing him goodnight with playful stickers.

Curious, she checked their chat history but found that all previous messages had been deleted.

Her instincts told her something was wrong, and she spent the night unable to sleep.

Her Husband Left for “work” On a Public Holiday

The next morning, despite it being a public holiday, her husband left for work.

Feeling uneasy, Ms. Y drove to his office but was unable to confront him.

When she later confronted him, he admitted that the colleague had confessed her feelings to him and that he had deleted their conversations “so she wouldn’t get upset.”

Boundaries Ignored

Ms. Y explained that she had previously told her husband the importance of maintaining boundaries with female colleagues.

Despite this, he continued interacting with one in ways that troubled her.

She said the colleague occasionally messaged her husband about work and even told him she was “hurt” after being rejected.

Her husband claimed he had made things clear and told the colleague not to send strange messages.

The colleague then toned it down somewhat, but still made remarks in the company group chat, praising him as “good” and “handsome.”

Hotel Room Sharing

The situation worsened when Ms. Y learned that her husband had shared a hotel room with his recently divorced female superior on two separate company trips, citing company budget constraints.

He told her that since his superior did not object, Ms. Y should accept it as well. However, for Ms. Y, this crossed a major boundary in their marriage.

Conflict and Talk of Separation

Arguments over these issues left both of them exhausted. Ms. Y said her husband grew impatient and suggested moving out.

He proposed a custody arrangement for their son:

  • from Monday to Thursday, the child would stay with him, and,
  • from Friday to Sunday, with her, with expenses split equally.

Disturbed by this, Ms. Y asked if he was implying divorce. He denied it, explaining that he only suggested moving out to give her space to calm down.

Ms. Y then told him that he must either divorce her or resign from his company. Her husband refused, stating that at his age, in his 40s, it would be too difficult to find another job

Emotional Toll

Ms. Y admitted that her trust in her husband had collapsed.

Although he assured her that nothing was going on between him and his colleague, she said she could no longer fully believe him.

Despite fulfilling her responsibilities as a wife and a mother, she said she was left feeling exhausted, confused, and questioning whether she had done something wrong.
