50-Year-Old ‘Grandma’ Among Four Foreign Women Arrested for Offering Sex in Malaysia

A 50-year-old woman, described as a “grandmother,” or “nenek” was among four foreign women arrested during a police raid in Malaysia’s Bukit Bintang area on Saturday (November 9, 2024).

The suspects, hailing from Iran, Uzbekistan, and Thailand, are believed to have entered Malaysia as tourists before engaging in prostitution activities in the country’s popular tourist areas.

The women were arrested as part of a wider crackdown on street prostitution. The suspects, aged between 35 and 50, were among those detained during the operation.

Details of the Arrest and Items Confiscated

Based on the Facebook post by KL Strike Force, the raid, which took place at around 11:30 PM, was conducted by the Anti-Vice, Gambling, and Secret Societies Division of the Kuala Lumpur police.

During the operation, authorities confiscated several items, including RM3,720 in cash (1,122.55 SGD), $150 (200.79 SGD) in US currency, eight condoms, four mobile phones, wet tissues, lubricant gel, and a set of keys.

The police also noted that the women were offering sex services to multiple clients at a time, with prices starting from RM100 (30.16 SGD) per session.

Investigation and Prostitution Methodology

Authorities revealed that the women were not operating under a fixed handler but were instead working as “freelancers.” They offered their services to customers, primarily foreign nationals, and would escort them to budget hotel rooms around the Bukit Bintang area.

The operation, dubbed “Ops Noda,” also uncovered that prostitution activities typically began in the late afternoon and continued until the early hours of the morning.

Legal Actions and Further Investigation

The arrested women are now under investigation for violating Section 372B of the Penal Code, which pertains to prostitution, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act for being in the country without proper identification.

The police have remanded the suspects for further questioning. Authorities continue to monitor prostitution-related activities in various areas across Malaysia, including other locations in Kuala Lumpur.
