Girl, 13, Found Tied in School Toilet After Alleged Bullying; Two Schoolmates Detained

Police say bullying is driven by jealousy.

Girl, 13, Found Tied in School Toilet After Alleged Bullying; Two Schoolmates Detained

A 13-year-old Form 1 student from a secondary school in Sungai Petani, Kedah, was found tied up and gagged in a school toilet after she failed to exit the school at the usual dismissal time on Monday, 14 July 2025.

The girl’s mother became concerned when her daughter did not appear after school ended at 6:30 PM. 

After waiting outside with no sign of her child, she alerted a school security guard and began searching the premises.

Found Bound and Gagged in School’s Toilet

Their search led them to one of the school’s toilets, where they discovered the girl with her hands and feet tied using a school necktie, and her mouth covered with a handkerchief.

She sustained minor injuries to her hands and legs and was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. She was also reported to be traumatised by the experience. 

Her mother later lodged a police report.

Two Schoolmates Detained, Jealousy Suspected

Following the report, police detained two 13-year-old girls from the same school to assist with the investigation. 

Authorities believe the incident was linked to jealousy.

According to Berita Harian, Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, confirmed the following:

“Both suspects, who are also 13 years old, admitted to committing the act out of jealousy. The investigation is still ongoing, and they have been remanded under Sections 323 and 324 of the Penal Code.”

As of now, the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have not released further updates, and no additional information has been reported regarding the school’s response or potential disciplinary actions.
