German Man Loses $2,000 in Anniversary Balloon Surprise
Facebook

The romantic anniversary surprise of a young German man became a horrifying loss when USD 2,000 (about RM 8,000) flew away using a balloon. He posted the video on Instagram on 11 February and has since enlisted almost 150 million views. In the link in the Instagram video, the man intended to give his girlfriend a memorable gift, but it turned out not to be so. The unexpected event quickly caught the audience’s attention worldwide, showing that even carefully planned romantic gestures can sometimes go awry.

Surprise Presentation in Open Parking Lot

The video was shot during the night in an empty car park. The couple was standing by a small table where lay a large white present box tied with a bright red bow. The gentleman wore black, and his girlfriend, also dressed in black, held a bunch of red balloons in her hands.

This was written on the video: “How I prepared an anniversary surprise for my girlfriend.” He had carefully arranged the romantic setting to impress her, using soft lighting to create a magical atmosphere for the night.

Balloon Tied to USD 2,000 Cash

A balloon tied to a long chain of USD 2,000 in cash sat inside a white gift box. As the woman opened the box, it was pink light inside, and the balloon started to slowly ascend into the air.

She gazed at the moment and seemed surprised and excited and turned to embrace her boyfriend. The present appeared ideal initially, and the scene looked happy and romantic. The creative concept attracted instant publicity on the internet, where people could watch the balloon pull the money to the sky in the night.

Escape Balloon Slips Away During Hug

As they embraced, the balloon dropped off the box, evacuating the whole chain of cash into the atmosphere. The female attempted to run after it, and the man tossed his jacket in a bid to halt the balloon to no avail. The other caption in the video translated as, “The cash chain then just ripped off the box.”

“That Was My Salary,” He Says

When the balloon floated away, the man froze and collapsed to the ground, covering his face. His girlfriend knelt beside him and said, “It’s the thought that counts.”

He answered, “Darling, that was my pay.” She replied, “Then make more income.”

The viral video has become a fable, a warning, and an unforgettable story of a romantic concept that had gone amiss and ended up being an expensive lesson.
