Unexpected Chaos at a Worksite

A worksite in Chongqing, China, turned chaotic on 29 November when a forklift accident caused several stacked metal cages to fall onto two workers. The incident was captured on CCTV and quickly spread online.

The workers had been sitting beside the motorway during a break when the heavy blue frames collapsed without warning.

Forklift Driver Loses Control

Witnesses reported that the forklift driver was attempting to move a stack of large metal cages. As he lifted them, the load suddenly tilted to one side.

In the footage, the driver appears to lose control, causing the frames to slide off and crash straight onto the two labourers sitting just a few steps away. Nearby staff, shocked by the loud noise, immediately rushed over.

A Sudden Fight to Escape

The two workers can be seen crawling out from under the fallen cages. Their colleagues quickly helped lift parts of the stack to free them.

One worker supported the pair while another employee tried to move pieces of the frame away. Despite the frightening moment, the men were able to stand and walk shortly after being rescued.

Reaction of Colleagues at the Scene

Those working nearby stood frozen at first, shocked by how quickly the situation changed. The forklift driver jumped from his seat and ran toward the workers, apparently terrified of the damage the accident might have caused. Several others also hurried in to check whether anyone needed urgent medical help.

Local reports stated that none of the workers suffered serious injuries. They were examined shortly after the incident and were able to return home.

However, the accident raised questions about safety at the worksite. Management has since launched an internal investigation to find out why the cages were not secured properly and whether the forklift was overloaded at the time.

A Close Call on a Routine Day

The event has drawn attention due to how quickly a normal workday can turn dangerous. Workers said the two labourers were simply resting for a moment when the accident occurred. If they had been sitting even slightly closer to the forklift’s path, the outcome could have been much worse.

The dramatic footage continues to circulate online as authorities review the safety procedures used at the site.
