This Nightclub Gives You Discounts Based On Your Phone Battery

On 31 July, FLIQ, a new nightlife spot at Golden Mile Tower (#B1-01), posted a TikTok showing one of the quirkier promo games seen in Singapore.

At the payment counter, a staff member asked to see a customer’s phone battery percentage. Whatever number showed up, that was the percentage discount they got on their order.

So, 81% battery? 81% off. 12%? That would still be 12% off. And if it’s at 100%, that means the entire bill takes the full hit.

But there is, no doubt, a catch. Another person in the video explained:

“You have to think you may be one of the lucky customers to enjoy this surprise. But one rule, do not ask the staff we can check your phone. Because when you do that, they wouldn’t want to check your phone. So come to Fliq and try it out.”

Totally random, but equally fun — and as their caption puts it, “only at FLIQ.”

Not Just A Nightclub, A “Frequency”

FLIQ launched on 6 June this year, introducing itself with a bold tagline:

“The wait is over. The lights are on. The bass is locked. This isn’t just a party – it’s a whole new frequency.”

Their TikTok bio also leans into that branding: “Not just a nightclub. A frequency.”

And in August, they doubled down on the battery promo, posting an Instagram clip of a couple scoring 29% off their bill.

Their S$280 total dropped to S$198.80 on the spot.

A Trend Gaining Traction

Interestingly, this is not the first time this style of marketing has been observed.

Back in December 2023, an ice cream shop in India named “The Ice Cream Masters” went viral for the exact same concept.

Customers had their discounts tied to their phone’s battery percentage. One walked away with 47% off, another with a whopping 92%.

Viewer Reactions

Viewers joked about bringing spare phones or portable chargers, saying they would aim for a 100% discount.
