In Bukit Abal, Kelantan, Malaysia, a father and his daughter Izara have been walking 6 kilometers every day so she can go to school. According to a Facebook post by Abbe Hae, Izara, who is in her final year of primary school (Year 6), makes this long journey with her father because their motorcycle broke down and they cannot afford to fix it.
A Long Walk for Education
Izara’s school is 3 kilometers from her home, while her older sister’s (14) secondary school is much closer—just 1.5 kilometers away. Before, both girls were taken to school by motorcycle, but now, without the bike, Izara, her sister and her father have no choice but to walk.
Despite the long distance, her father is committed to making sure Izara doesn’t miss out on her education. Some kind villagers, noticing their daily struggle, have offered them lifts when passing by. Abbe Hae, in his post, thanked these neighbors for helping the family.
A Father’s Dedication
What stood out to many people was the father’s dedication to his daughter’s education. Every day, he walks with her to ensure she doesn’t fall behind in school. Abbe Hae pointed out that this kind of commitment is admirable and should be followed by others.
He also shared that Izara is a hardworking student. After coming home from school, Izara immediately opens her school bag and starts studying.
Seeing their situation, Abbe Hae has decided to give Izara a monthly scholarship starting in October 2024. She has also arranged for their motorcycle to be repaired soon, with all the costs covered.

While another commenter directly asked for Izara’s father’s phone number to share sustenance with Izara’s family.
