With September school holidays just around the corner, families in Singapore may already be planning a short getaway. 

Luckily, new attractions have opened in nearby Malaysia and Thailand this year, while Indonesia offers a sprawling waterpark perfect for cooling off. 

Together, these destinations promise a mix of seaside fun, off-road adrenaline, and even a Jurassic adventure.

Funtasi Land & Funtasi WaterKart @ Marina Island, Lumut, Perak

Families heading to Perak this holiday can now enjoy two fresh attractions at Marina Island.

Opened in May 2025, Funtasi Land has become a vibrant family spot, featuring Malaysia’s first pink and blue sand zone, a mini Ferris wheel, kids’ rides, and numerous photo-worthy seaside views.

Entry is RM5 (approx. S$1.52) per person (free for children under three years old), and the park operates daily from 4:30 pm to 11 pm, with two hours of complimentary parking.

Adding to the excitement, the island also launched Funtasi WaterKart on 1 August 2025.

Billed as Malaysia’s first-ever water kart attraction, it offers single-seat and double-seat karts, along with bumper boats for all ages.

Prices start from RM35 (approx. S$10.66), and opening hours are: 

  • Mon–Fri, 3 pm–8 pm, 
  • Sat–Sun, 9 am–12 pm & 3 pm–8 pm.

How to Get There from Singapore?

Driving from Singapore to Marina Island takes about 7 hours and 50 minutes (556 km) via the Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan (E2) highway, depending on traffic. 

This route involves tolls and a border crossing.

  • Drive: Around 7 hours 50 minutes (556 km) via the North–South Expressway (E2), with tolls and a border crossing. Key towns along the route: Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Selangor, Sitiawan, and Marina Island.
  • Alternative: Fly from Singapore to Sultan Azlan Shah (Ipoh) Airport, then drive about 1.5 hours to Marina Island.

Sepang Bay 13, Selangor

For families looking for high-octane adventure, Sepang Bay 13 is Malaysia’s new off-road dirt ranch, located right next to the Sepang International Circuit. 

Run by MSF Racing, the venue features multiple tracks for ATVs, dirt karts, motocross, buggies, and rally cars. It’s also suitable for all ages!

According to its official website, the ranch is open on weekends from 10 am to 6 pm and is designed for both beginners and seasoned riders. 

Rentals are available, with prices starting at: 

  • RM65 (approx. S$19.78) for an eight-minute dirt kart session 
  • RM85 (approx. S$25.86) for a 15-minute ATV ride, with combo packages also available.

To make it even more enjoyable, there’s a kids’ play-pool and a BBQ pit where families can cook together after their ride.

How to Get There from Singapore?

  • Drive: About 4 hours 40 minutes (312 km) via the AH2 Highway, with tolls and a border crossing. The route passes through Johor Bahru, Seremban, and Sepang (KLIA area).
  • Alternative: Fly from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The ranch is just a 15-minute drive from the airport.

Jurassic World: The Experience, Bangkok

For those planning a longer trip and flying out, Bangkok now offers an attraction straight out of Hollywood.

Jurassic World: The Experience officially opened at Asiatique The Riverfront Destination on 8 August 2025, bringing the blockbuster franchise to life with towering gates, life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, and immersive storytelling.

According to its ticketing site, the one-hour experience is open daily from 11 am to 10 pm (last entry at 9 pm). 

Tickets start at: 

  • THB 579 (approx. S$22.86) for children (ages 3–10)
  • THB 769 (approx. S$30.36) for adults on weekdays before 4 pm, rising to THB 989 (approx. S$39.05) on weekends and public holidays. 

Children under three enter free.

To extend the adventure, visitors can also dine at the newly launched Fossil & Flame Restaurant, the world’s first Jurassic World-themed restaurant outside a theme park.

Asiatique is easily accessible by BTS Skytrain to Saphan Taksin Station, followed by a free shuttle boat or van.

Wahoo Waterworld, Bandung, Indonesia

Families heading to Indonesia can cool off at Wahoo Waterworld in Bandung, West Java, a sprawling 10-hectare tropical waterpark featuring 13 water rides and attractions for all ages.

From high-thrill slides to kid-friendly zones, there’s plenty of splashing fun for the whole family.

The star attraction is the RocketBLAST, shooting riders along a 120-metre track in just 26 seconds.

Other adrenaline-pumping rides include the Abyss (a giant funnel slide), The Caterpillar (a four-person tube ride through twisting tunnels), Boomerango, and the Super Bowl.

For younger kids, there’s plenty to enjoy too! From the Kiddies Island, Rain Fortress, and Splash & Aqua Zones, to the Lazy River and Wave Pool that mimics a real beach.

Beyond the water fun, Wahoo also offers rabbit and sheep feeding, canoeing, and dining options like Laguna Café, Odie’s Food Street, and Oz’s Snack Shack. 

Families can relax on day beds or upgrade to a VIP cabana for extra comfort.
