Chinese Women Film Themselves Scolding Crying Toddler in Airplane Bathroom

Traveling with kids on airplanes can be tough. Being stuck in a small space makes it easy for kids to get bored, so they often turn to gadgets to pass the time. But when boredom turns into nonstop crying, it can push everyone’s patience to the limit. This was exactly what happened on flight HO2382 from Guiyang to Shanghai Pudong International Airport on August 24, where two passengers took matters into their own hands in a way that sparked a lot of controversy.

Passengers Take Toddler to the Bathroom for a Talk

In response to the toddler’s crying, two women on the flight, with the grandmother’s approval, decided to step in. They escorted the little girl into the airplane’s bathroom to try and settle her down, while the grandmother waited just outside.

One of the women recorded the whole thing and posted it on social media, where it quickly went viral. In the video, the women can be heard saying things like, “If you stop crying you can go out,” and “Auntie will take you to your grandma after you stop crying.”

The Airline Apologizes and Responds

Juneyao Airlines, according to Shine.cn, issued a statement on Monday (August 26, 2024) apologized for what happened, and made it clear that passengers should not be taking such actions. The airline also stated that it’s against the rules for multiple people to be in the toilet together, stressing that safety and comfort should always come first.

Growing Frustration Over Kids in Public Spaces

This incident adds to the growing frustration some people feel about kids in public places, especially in confined spaces like airplanes and trains.

While many understand that kids can be noisy and restless, others believe that using these kinds of logic with a toddler is a little bit absurd. On the other hand, one commenter found that this act of discipline was completely normal.

Some also found the video triggering, while others questioned the need to post it online, suggesting that the women might have been looking for attention.
