On 8 September, a TikTok video from user @/bas_nakub captured attention after showing two young children being towed on a bright plastic board tied to a motorbike through a flooded residential street.
This took place in Thailand’s Fueng Fah Ville 17, Phraeksa.
The rider, believed to be their parent or guardian, pulled them along as water rippled across the lane.
Viral Moment Amid Widespread Flooding
The clip, filmed just three days ago, reflects a lighter moment in what has otherwise been a difficult week for residents.
Heavy rainfall combined with high tides has inundated large parts of Samut Prakan, just south of Bangkok.

More than 30 centimeters of water submerged the roads, slowing traffic and forcing many residents to wade through waist-deep sections.
Local officials said 25 schools initially suspended classes due to safety concerns, later adjusting to 13 closures as water levels began to recede. Schools arranged online classes for affected students.
Echoes of Past Scenes
This is not the first time children in the nation have tried to find joy amid hardship. In 2022, a local video showed youngsters turning a large household basin into a floating toy.
This was during a flood in Wichian Buri District, Phetchabun Province, and kids were seen using the basin to paddle around while their neighborhood was submerged.
The clip, widely shared at the time, highlighted how residents often inject humor and resilience into moments of crisis.
Tragedy Amid the Floodwaters
Not all stories carried a playful note. Also on 8 September, a 17-year-old boy was killed after being electrocuted on flooded Praksa Road while pushing his motorbike.

Witnesses said a passing truck’s wave forced him into a concrete barrier that carried exposed live wiring connected to streetlights. Rescue teams had to wait until power was cut before reaching him. Authorities have launched an investigation into the faulty wiring.
Balancing Resilience with Risk
Officials continue drainage operations as light rain persists across the province. While videos of children floating on makeshift rafts bring smiles, safety concerns remain urgent, especially with live electrical wires and fast-moving vehicles in floodwaters.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution while waiting for conditions to return to normal.
