It is advised to be wary of pickpockets when traveling abroad, but a sensational incident occurred in the Bukit Bintang area of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
A pickpocketing incident took place in broad daylight in the middle of one of the city’s busiest and most popular shopping centers. The video of which is now viral on social media.

The moment of theft was caught on video.
TikTok user Fifi Marzuki was capturing the bustling atmosphere of Bukit Bintang on her phone. Unknowingly, her 10-second video captured a theft scene.
A man untied the chain of a woman’s backpack in the crowd and took her wallet and disappeared into the crowd. Fifi later realized the incident after watching the video.

Eventually, it was later learned that the woman had lost about RM8,200 (S$2492) of which RM3,200 was cash and two gold dinar coins. which was the money she earned from selling kuih (traditional sweet business). She is currently severely traumatized by this incident.
Police investigation and public outrage
A police report was filed soon after the incident, and Dang Wangi district police chief Sazalee Adam confirmed that an investigation is underway. He also said that the video and the allegations were completely consistent.

However, millions of people have expressed their outrage since the video went viral on social media. And many said that the incident made them afraid to use backpacks, while others reminded people to be careful not only abroad but also in their own country.
According to many, it is safer to carry a bag in front of you, not behind you.

Since then, the video has received millions of online views, provoking indignation and worry among the general population.
Many were shocked that such a daring crime could take place in one of the busiest and most well-supervised tourist areas in the nation.
