A Historic Moment in Gyeongju
RM, the leader of world-famous K-pop group BTS, delivered a groundbreaking keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit Korea 2025 in Gyeongju on 29 October. The event, held at the Gyeongju Arts Center, gathered top business and political figures from across the Asia-Pacific region. RM’s appearance marked the first time a K-pop artist had ever spoken at the high-level summit, drawing global attention and praise.

As seen in the video, RM was warmly welcomed by delegates before taking the stage, where he confidently spoke about creativity and cultural influence. His presence added a fresh cultural dimension to the traditionally business-focused gathering.
Sharing the Power of K-Culture
During his 10-minute keynote, RM spoke on the theme “Cultural and Creative Industries in the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture.” He reflected on his journey as an artist, his understanding of Korean culture, and its growing global reach. Speaking with calm confidence, RM emphasized the value of supporting young creators and artists.

“Give them the opportunities so that their talent can really shine,” he said, encouraging leaders to invest in cultural innovation. His words highlighted how creative industries can become strong economic drivers in the APEC region.
From the UN to APEC
This was not the first time RM had addressed a global audience. Back in 2018, he represented BTS at the UNICEF Youth Agenda during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, delivering a heartfelt speech about self-love and youth empowerment. His return to an international stage in 2025 showed his continued growth as both an artist and a public figure.

RM arrived at the summit with HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk, symbolizing the company’s commitment to promoting cultural leadership worldwide.
HYBE’s Strong Presence at the Summit
HYBE, the parent company of BTS’ label Big Hit Music, participated as a diamond sponsor—the summit’s highest sponsorship level. It was also the only entertainment company among the sponsors, underlining the increasing role of culture and entertainment in global business discussions.
The APEC CEO Summit, organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is the largest business forum in the Asia-Pacific region. This year, it hosted 1,700 corporate leaders and heads of state from 21 member economies.
Global Leaders and Shared Visions
The 2025 summit included 20 sessions and speeches by 85 speakers, focusing on key global challenges such as artificial intelligence, finance, and cultural industries. RM’s participation reflected how K-culture now stands beside technology and economy as a global influence.
As one of the most respected figures in the entertainment world, RM’s thoughtful words and calm charisma left a lasting impression. His message bridged the gap between art and policy, reminding leaders that creativity is as vital as commerce in shaping the future.
