An unusual goal by Sebastián Ferreira has drawn attention in Paraguay after a strange moment during a league match. The striker, who once played in Mexico, scored in a way rarely seen in professional football. The incident happened during a match between Club Olimpia and Rubio Ñu in Asunción.

A strange moment on the field

The situation began in the second half when Olimpia won a corner kick. Shortly after, referee Derlis López awarded a penalty after spotting a handball by defender Fernando Martínez.

Ferreira stepped forward to take the penalty. He had already scored once and was hoping to add another goal. He aimed low and to the side, but goalkeeper Franco Fragueda reacted quickly and saved the shot.

The rebound that changed everything

After the save, the ball bounced back into play. Martínez rushed to clear it away from danger. However, his clearance struck Ferreira directly in the face at close range. The ball then changed direction and rolled into the net.

The unexpected goal left players from both teams surprised. Ferreira did not celebrate and only showed a brief reaction as teammates came to congratulate him. Meanwhile, Rubio Ñu players gathered around Martínez, who looked disappointed after the unlucky moment.

Ferreira’s journey in football

At 28, Ferreira has played in several countries during his career. He started at Olimpia before moving to Mexico, where he joined Monarcas Morelia at a young age. He later became part of the squad that moved to Mazatlán FC in 2020.
