The shooting took place at a family home in Moo 3, Pong Namron sub-district, Khlong Lan district, Daily News reported.

When police from Khlong Lan Police Station arrived at the scene, they arrested the suspect, Arsia.

Officers found him in an intoxicated and incoherent state. A long-barrel shotgun and two spent cartridges were also recovered nearby.

Argument Between Brothers Escalates to Violence

The event unfolded around 8:30 p.m., when Nittaya and her husband, Plew, who is Arsia’s older brother, went to visit their father to borrow money.

During the visit, a verbal altercation broke out between the brothers over how Nittaya had been caring for their mother.

According to reports, Plew told police that Arsia accused his wife of not cooking for their mother, which led to an argument and threats.

Plew said that after storming off, Arsia returned to his nearby home (50 meters away), retrieved a shotgun, and fired into the house.

Nittaya, who was standing near the stairs, was struck and killed.

“Only Omelettes”: Suspect and Family Confirm Motive

In a televised report by Amarin TV, the motive was further confirmed through statements made by Arsia, Plew, and their mother.

Arsia admitted he was angry because he believed Nittaya was only feeding their mother omelettes. In his confession, he said:

“It happened because of omelettes and alcohol… If I had been home every day, I’d have seen she cooked other food too.”

Plew also stated that during the argument, Arsia repeatedly complained:

“Why does she only make omelettes for Mom? Why no other dishes?”

Mother Denies Mistreatment and Defends Daughter-in-Law

Their 77-year-old mother, Kern, denied Arsia’s claim.

She said, “It’s not true. My daughter-in-law didn’t just make omelettes. My son wasn’t home often, so he didn’t see when other meals were made.”

Kern explained that some days she cooked for herself, and that Nittaya always prepared a variety of meals. Additionally, according to The Thaiger, Kern could not tolerate spicy food and actually preferred omelettes.

Additionally, it is reported that there had never been any other conflicts between Arsia, his brother or his sister-in-law.

Husband Expresses Regret Over Living Arrangement

Plew told reporters that Nittaya had only moved into the family home just a year ago. She had two children from a previous marriage.

He expressed deep remorse, saying that if he had known what would happen, he would have arranged for them to live separately.

“If I had known this would happen, I would’ve built a separate house,” he said.

Murder Charges Filed as Suspect Awaits Trial

Police have charged Arsia with intentional homicide and illegal possession of a firearm. Authorities remanded him into custody on Monday, June 23, 2025.

During a police-led reenactment of the crime, Arsia approached his father, held his hand, and apologised.

He reportedly promised he would cook for them once he was out of prison.
