Woman Rescued From Mud
A woman was pulled alive from a mudslide-buried house in Nepal on Saturday, 10 days after catastrophic floods tore through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river valleys.
Footage shows rescuers pulling Shrestha from the mud-filled building before she is seen sitting on the ground surrounded by emergency teams.
Chandika Kumari Shrestha was found on the upper floor of a four-storey building in Betrawati, Nuwakot District, after rescuers received reports of a human voice from inside.
A nine-member Armed Police Force team reached her at around 13:35 local time. She was conscious and able to speak before being airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
Rescuers Find More Survivors
Her rescue came a day after two Nepali workers were pulled alive from the Upper Trishuli 3A hydropower tunnel. A Chinese worker was also rescued from the same project on Saturday.
The August 26 disaster has killed at least 1,300 people in Nepal, with more than 5,000 still missing as rescue operations continue.
