Vietnam Fans Flood Hanoi Streets After ASEAN Championship Victory
Thousands of football fans poured onto the streets of Hanoi following Vietnam’s victory in the 2026 ASEAN Championship.
Footage shows supporters wearing red jerseys gathering across the city, waving Vietnamese flags, cheering and celebrating on foot and on motorcycles.
French tourist Johan said the atmosphere was intense as fans celebrated Vietnam’s victory.
“The people were stressed, but now they win. It’s crazy. They were all very happy to see the football match ending. Very happy,” French tourist Johan said.
He added that he was particularly impressed by the intensity of Vietnamese supporters. “I can see that Vietnamese people really also like football, but they enjoy it a lot more,” he said.
Fans Celebrate Decisive Moments
Resident Nguyen Van Quan recalled two decisive moments that stood out for him during the game. “The moment Kakana missed the penalty and the moment Hoang Hen kicked the ball into the Thai goalkeeper’s leg and scored. Those were the two moments that made me the happiest and most overwhelmed in this match,” Nguyen said.
He described the match as intensely nerve-racking, saying his emotions erupted when the referee finally brought the contest to an end.
“I was incredibly nervous, but when the referee blew the final whistle, my emotions just exploded. I was overjoyed and thrilled that Vietnam had successfully defended their Southeast Asian football championship title,” he said.
Vietnam Claims Fourth Title
Vietnam defended its ASEAN title and will claim the crown for a fourth time after defeating Thailand 4–2 on aggregate.
