Trump Signs New Orders
Donald Trump signed two new executive orders restricting ‘birthright citizenship’ despite losing in the Supreme Court, as he spoke with reporters from the White House on Thursday.

“We had a very unfortunate decision in the Supreme Court concerning birthright. It was close, but a very, very unfortunate decision. So we’re making adjustments because it’s very unfair,” he said. “This was done for a different reason. This was done right after the Civil War. This was for the babies of slaves.”
Birthright Citizenship Debate
“And what’s happening now, people are building businesses around it. Wealthy people are building businesses around birthright citizenship. That’s not the way it was supposed to work. It’s a disgrace. They’re buying their way in, and we’re not going to let it happen,” he went on.

The new rules target ‘birth tourism’ and widens legal definitions of who is excluded from automatic citizenship – such as foreign government employees or parents who committed citizenship fraud.
Supreme Court Ruling
The Supreme Court ruled 6–3 against Trump’s original order denying automatic citizenship to children born on US soil if both parents were undocumented or on temporary visas.
