Shocking Near-Miss in KL
A scary near-miss in Kuala Lumpur was caught on video when a heavy lorry wheel popped off an overpass. The falling object dropped straight into a waiting car below, smashing the front of the vehicle. Luckily, nobody got hurt or killed during the crash.
Sudden Danger on the Road
The incident took place on a Wednesday afternoon along the busy Selayang-Kepong Highway. Cars were sitting at a red traffic light under the MRR2 flyover when the wheel fell. Out of nowhere, a set of double tires detached from a commercial truck driving on the bridge overhead.
The tires bounced across the road junction with massive force. The runaway wheel then slammed into a silver Perodua Axia stopped at the light. The hard hit kicked up a big cloud of smoke and dust, startling drivers nearby and a motorcyclist who barely dodged the blow.
Bad Destruction to the Sedan
Videos recorded by eyewitnesses showed how hard the tires hit the small car. The driver’s side took the main impact, crushing the front bonnet and breaking the headlight. The bumper was badly smashed, and the front windscreen cracked into pieces.
The runaway double tires came to a halt on the road curb right after hitting the car. The people inside the vehicle were badly shaken by the loud hit, but they walked away without any physical cuts or injuries.
Cops Open Investigation
Traffic officers arrived at the intersection quickly after people reported the weird accident. Cops started collecting photos and checking dashcam videos right away to track down the truck driver.
By law, transport businesses have to service their fleet regularly to keep road users safe. Traffic police are now checking if bad maintenance or broken parts caused the wheel to fall off. Cops are still searching for the haulage company that owns the vehicle.
