ChinaJoy 2026 Opens
Nearly 900 companies from around the world gathered in Shanghai for ChinaJoy 2026, as the digital entertainment industry looked towards the next wave of gaming innovation.

Footage filmed on Monday shows a bustling exhibition floor, with visitors exploring digital platforms, testing new games and viewing displays from exhibitors across the globe.
Russian technology companies Yandex and VK used the event to seek partnerships and strengthen their presence in China.
Gaming Industry Expands
Alex from Yandex Ads said the exhibition had provided useful contacts and ideas. “During these three days, I was able to meet with a lot of amazing people, to catch lots of good stuff that would help me to develop my product and my service,” he explained.
He added that Yandex was focusing on localisation, identifying new markets and adapting its products to customers’ needs in China.
At the VK and VK Play booth, Sam described the event as a chance to connect with advertisers and game developers. “The experience is great. I think that all these collaborations will bring us a lot of new partners,” he remarked.

“We want to develop the China market. Want to have new advertisers from China. We want to have new publishers of games in China,” he added.
Global Developers Join
Russian developers also showcased more than 20 projects, including Escape from Tarkov: Arena and Caliber. China has become their largest export market.
PlayStation player Xu was attending the Shanghai exhibition for the first time. “It just so happened that they had a booth here, so I thought I’d come and check it out,” she shared, persisting, “Although it’s a bit crowded, the gaming experience is actually pretty good […] It was all pretty nice.”

The event also marked the return of Wargaming and featured a cross-industry showcase from BYD, combining anime-inspired vehicle designs with in-car gaming experiences.
AI Shapes Gaming Future
More than 10,000 international business visitors from 39 countries attended ChinaJoy 2026.
Held under the theme ‘Level Up with AI’, the event ran from 31 July to 3 August, showcasing developments in artificial intelligence, gaming technology and immersive experiences.
