Revenge Vow
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed on Saturday to take ‘revenge’ for his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in his first message since Thursday’s funeral.
“We pledge to you that we will avenge your pure blood [Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei], and the blood of all the martyrs of these two wars, from the disgraceful criminal killers,” Khamenei said in a statement read out on Iranian state television.

“This revenge is our people’s demand, and it must inevitably be achieved,” he added.
Khamenei stressed that the pledge “does not depend on him or other officials’.
“Whether we are here or not, this will be achieved, and soon, free people of the world will each carry out a part of this divine mission,” he continued.
Trump Responds
US President Donald Trump responded on Saturday, warning that 1,000 missiles were ‘locked and loaded’ at Iran. He threatened to ‘annihilate and destroy’ the country if Tehran attempted to assassinate him.
Thousands of Iranians accompanied Ali Khamenei’s body to its final resting place in Mashhad on Thursday, after days of funeral processions through cities in Iran and Iraq.
Ali Khamenei was killed on February 28 during a joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran.
Ceasefire Under Pressure
Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17, extending a ceasefire and opening a 60-day negotiating period. The first round of talks began in Switzerland on June 21, with both sides seeking a final agreement.
Washington and Tehran have accused each other of violating the deal in recent weeks.
