Ceremonial Palace Welcome
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a ceremonial welcome at Jakarta’s Merdeka Palace on Tuesday, as Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto hosted talks on trade, defence and maritime security.

Footage shows Modi arriving under escort from the Indonesian Presidential Security Force before being greeted by Prabowo outside the palace. The two leaders inspected the guard of honour, greeted children waving Indian and Indonesian flags, met delegates and later sat down for bilateral talks.
Expanding Bilateral Ties
The discussions covered the full sweep of India-Indonesia ties, from trade and defence to maritime security, digital technology, education and cultural links. The two sides also oversaw the signing of a package of agreements and memorandums of understanding.
One of the key announcements was a plan to open an Indian Institute of Management Bangalore campus in Jakarta, expanding India’s higher education presence in Southeast Asia.
Regional Diplomatic Tour
The visit follows Prabowo’s trip to New Delhi as chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations earlier this year.

Modi arrived in Jakarta on Monday for a three-day visit, the first leg of an Indo-Pacific tour that will also take him to Australia and New Zealand.
