ISS Crew Simulations Underway
The prime and backup crews for the forthcoming 75th expedition to the International Space Station (ISS) were seen during ‘integrated qualification simulations’ at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre in the Moscow region on Friday.
The participants practised responses to both normal and emergency situations in space using simulators that recreate various stages of a flight to the ISS.

Footage shows Roscosmos cosmonauts Dmitri Petelin, Konstantin Borisov, Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina, as well as NASA astronauts Deniz Burnham and Anil Menon.
Crews Tested In Emergency Scenarios
“Yesterday’s session went well, and the ‘launch proceeded’ as planned. We docked with the ‘station’. There were several emergency scenarios involving the communications system.

During the final approach, we had to deal with failures and perform manual docking. There were also a number of return-related scenarios during descent. I believe we handled all the emergency situations well, received a good assessment, and, most importantly, valuable recommendations and guidance from the commission for further improvement,” said backup crew member Petelin.

Meanwhile, NASA astronaut Denise Burnham noted that the team was ‘well prepared’, adding that their instructors had ‘done an excellent job’.
“One thing I know for sure about this team is our ability to work together and support one another,” Burnham added.
Launch is scheduled for July.
Training Continues Ahead Of Mission
According to Roscosmos, the training sessions for the cosmonauts and astronauts take two days. Tasks are being carried out on simulators of the Soyuz crewed spacecraft and the Russian segment of the ISS, where prime crew members Pyotr Dubrov, Anna Kikina and Anil Menon are practicing responses to unexpected situations.
