Deadly Attack On Team Bus

Horrifying images show the aftermath of a deadly drone attack on the bus carrying a children’s football team from Belarus to Russia – with the destroyed vehicle, shattered glass and bloodstains visible.

Svetlana Petrenko from Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed a criminal case had been opened into an apparent ‘terrorist attack’ by Ukraine – with one woman killed and others injured.

“On June 17, a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle attacked a passenger coach belonging to Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 2 in the town of Rechitsa. The bus, which was travelling from the Republic of Belarus on the Gomel-Gelendzhik route, was carrying 44 passengers, 28 of whom were young athletes. They were all on their way to a holiday camp. According to preliminary reports, one woman was killed. Six people were injured and have been hospitalised,” Petrenko reported.

Casualties And Medical Response

Russian Assistant Health Minister Alexei Kuznetsov clarified that seven casualties, including five children, had been taken to a local hospital.

‘Doctors have assessed one child’s condition as serious; the other casualties are in a moderately serious condition. All casualties are receiving the full range of necessary medical care,’ Kuznetsov added.

Reactions From Moscow And Minsk

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova described the incident as “yet another terrorist attack by Kiev, which is targeting civilians, particularly children”.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry condemned the strike and demanded ‘full explanation’ from the Ukrainian side regarding the incident.

Ukraine Rejects Allegations

Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff later commented, saying that “statements by representatives of the Russian Federation alleging that a Ukrainian Armed Forces unmanned aerial vehicle struck a bus carrying a children’s football team in Bryansk Oblast are false” and called them “another information provocation”.

The location of the footage can not be independently verified.
