Hakimi Pays Tribute To Neymar

Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi praised Neymar during the Atlas Lions’ pre-match press conference in New Jersey on Friday, after the Brazilian star was ruled out injured ahead of their Group C clash.

“I like to play with the best, so he is one of the best; I prefer to play against him. We know that it is his last World Cup, so I prefer that he would be on the pitch,” Hakimi said.

Brazil Star Ruled Out

Neymar will miss the match as he continues to recover from a calf problem, with Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti saying the forward is not yet ready to return and could remain sidelined beyond the opening fixture.

The 34-year-old sat out Brazil’s final training session on Friday after already missing the team’s pre-tournament friendlies.

Hakimi Welcomes Global Support

Hakimi also noted that he was pleased to see that he has supporters from different countries.

“I’m happy that people from different countries can follow me and follow Morocco because that means that we are growing and doing good things,” he shared.
