Zack Snyder has found his next project and it will be a reimagining of the indie sci-fi, “Escape from New York”.
The filmmaker was revealed to be writing and directing his version of the John Carpenter film, which popularised Kurt Russell as the eye-patch-wearing Snake Plissken.

Snyder will also produce the project alongside Deborah Snyder and Wesley Coller via Stone Quarry, while Carpenter will serve as executive producer.

The original 1981 movie stars Russell as a Special Forces operative turned federal prisoner in a dystopian United States, who is given 24 hours to rescue the President of the United States from Manhattan, which has been converted into a maximum security prison.

The movie received positive reviews and grossed USD 50 million at the box office from a budget of USD 6 million.
It also spawned the sequel called “Escape from LA” in 1996.
