If elections were all about boring statistics and their monotonous speeches, South Korea has proved otherwise. The majors broke from convention to K-pop dances, plastered in AI-generated bodies, for the 2026 Seoul mayoral elections. Instead of podium speeches, TikTokers across the world watched their deepfakes dancing through viral K-pop songs and fitness trends while live votes rolled in.
Everyone Is Losing It
South Korea treated the election event as an entertainment source for netizens. This year, broadcasters have transformed voting results into completely iconic K-pop iconic dances using special effects. Not to mention, their blockbusters and fitness deepfakes captivated the attention span globally. Instead of presenting visuals, the candidates’ faces were dignified into AI avatars, one “Ring Ding Dong” and “Growl” at a time.

And the surprises kept us anticipating. Broadcasters featured nostalgia by digging up childhood images of mayoral candidates to ask viewers to guess who was who. The faded childhood photographs, etched with vintage edits, became the true crowd-pleaser. The photographs changed into professional campaign portraits effortlessly for the election coverage, making it less political and more “must-see” internet culture.
K-Pop, Anime, and CGIs Featured
The concept is rather simple: younger audiences frequent their For You Pages and add election night to their watch list. The broadcasters definitely understood their assignment. By combining politics, viral trends, and generating AI deepfakes, internet culture turned a normal, civilised election into one of the season’s most popular online topics.

And the results? Pleasantly chaotic. Candidates appeared as CGI superheroes, Dragon Ball warriors, and K-Pop dancers, competing against each other on screen as vote counts were tallied. They became viral across broadcasting channels using superpowers from anime series and performed iconic K-pop songs next. The internet’s latest obsessions and nostalgia hits the ballpark for the election covers, and the viewers are definitely enjoying every moment.
FYP for President
Politics is transforming to a generation’s entertainment-first approach beyond traditions. If voters rely on their For You Pages, elections become a chaotic meme culture. Transforming vote counts in this case, results generate faster than wildfire. In 2026, the presidency turned into a K-pop dance moment, and anime protagonists surged in power.
