A tourist in Romania was injured after a bear suddenly attacked a vehicle parked along a mountain road, according to local media reports and footage that later spread widely online.
The incident reportedly happened on June 1 in an area known for frequent bear sightings. Video footage shows a bear sitting on the road near several vehicles before approaching a car carrying tourists. Soon, the bear approached the vehicle and lunged at it aggressively.
Bear Approaches Vehicles
The video shows the bear walking along the roadside, with the traffic slowing down. It seems that a number of vehicles come to a stop near the animal, permitting people to view it at a close distance.
Some of the visitors observed the bear from their cars, as shown in the video. But this all changed when the animal approached one of the cars and touched a person in the vicinity of the car.
Sudden Attack Captured
A video showing the bear attacking a tourist has spread widely online. The accident occurred in just a few seconds, and there was not enough time for people around to respond.
The media has reported that the tourist was seriously injured in the encounter, with his arm being injured. Emergency responders arrived shortly afterward and transported the injured tourist to a hospital for treatment.
Safety Concerns Raised
The incident has brought back into focus the issue of tourist and wild animal interaction in Romania. This is the region with one of the largest brown bear populations in Europe, and it is not unusual to encounter brown bears near roadsides or in tourist areas.
Visitors have been repeatedly warned against coming near bears and feeding them by wildlife experts. Authorities have also urged motorists to stay away from roads when wild animals are around.
Officials have not released further details about the tourist’s condition. The video continues to attract attention online as authorities remind people to exercise caution when traveling through bear habitats.
