Mexico destroys five clandestine drug factories in anti-cartel crackdown

Synthetic Drug Operations Targeted Nationwide

Mexican authorities dismantled five clandestine laboratories producing synthetic drugs across the states of Sinaloa, Nayarit, and Jalisco, seizing nearly 10,000 litres of chemical precursors and more than seven tonnes of chemical substances.

Footage released by authorities on Sunday shows personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the Attorney General’s Office deploying to secure the laboratories.

Authorities Neutralise Drug Materials

A total of nearly 10,000 litres of chemical precursors and more than seven tonnes of various chemical substances and products in process were neutralised.

Three of the five labs were dismantled in Sinaloa, where authorities seized 2,750 litres of precursors and 1,000 kilograms of methamphetamine alongside other substances.

Methamphetamine Production Disrupted

In Jalisco, a laboratory in Saucillo de Maldonado yielded 600 kilograms of finished methamphetamine, 750 litres of chemical precursors, and 425 kilograms of solid substances.

In El Capomo, Nayarit, authorities seized 780 kilograms of solid methamphetamine and 300 litres of liquid methamphetamine.

Officials Estimate Millions In Damages

Official sources indicated that these seizures represent losses exceeding 650 million pesos (37.5 million USD, 32.25 million EUR) for drug trafficking, mainly affecting the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which had a presence in the laboratories of Jalisco and Nayarit.
