A lorry driver has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting incident outside an entertainment center in Bangsar last month. The accused appeared before the Sessions Court and pleaded not guilty to the serious charge linked to the late-night incident along Jalan Telawi.

The accused, identified as 27-year-old A. Lekeswaran, was charged with attempting to kill scrap metal businessman B. Yoga Sundram, 41. The shooting reportedly happened at around 3.15 am on April 22 outside a nightclub area in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
Shooting Investigation Continues
Police previously arrested two suspects in Klang only hours after the shooting took place. Authorities said the suspects were believed to have been involved in an argument with another group before gunshots were fired near the entertainment outlet.

Investigators said warning shots were allegedly fired into the air and toward the group during the confrontation. One of the suspects was also accused of displaying a replica firearm during the incident. After the shooting, both suspects reportedly escaped from the scene before police tracked them down at a hotel in Klang later that night.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that the suspects, aged 27 and 33, were arrested at about 11.45pm on April 22. Police records showed that one suspect had five previous criminal records, while the second suspect had 17 prior records.
Court Rejects Bail Request
The charge against Lekeswaran was filed under Section 307 of the Penal Code. The offense carries a possible prison sentence of up to 10 years and a fine if convicted. If injuries are caused during the act, the punishment may increase to a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Deputy public prosecutor J. Banusha objected to bail during the court hearing. He told the court that the victim remains in critical condition inside the Intensive Care Unit at Universiti Malaya Medical Center.
The prosecutor also argued that releasing the accused could create risks, including possible interference with witnesses and concerns that the suspect might flee before trial. He added that the accused may also face additional firearms-related charges in the Klang Court.
Next Court Mention Fixed
Lawyer Muhammad Izz Khan Mohd Nor Khan, representing the accused, requested bail and said his client was willing to follow any court conditions. However, Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid rejected the application and fixed June 10 for the next court mention.
