A Singapore mum of two has gone viral on TikTok after documenting her first few days of unemployment — not with complaints, but by stepping into the shoes of a delivery walker.
The content creator shares snippets of her daily life balancing job uncertainty, motherhood, and temporary gig work. Her videos, which began on 10 April, have since resonated with viewers for their honesty and relatability.
Day 1: “Tougher Than It Looks”
In her first video, she documents her experience taking on food delivery work.
“9km walked as a delivery walker, $15 earned,” she wrote.

What started as a simple attempt to earn some income quickly turned into a reality check. From figuring out how to use the rider app to navigating her first condo delivery, the day came with small wins and quiet stress.

She admitted feeling “lowkey anxious” entering a condominium for the first time, but later described the moment as “mission accomplished.”
Despite completing just four orders, she ended the day exhausted.
“It’s way more tiring than it looks,” she said, adding that she now has “mad respect” for those who do it daily.

A screengrab from her earnings showed she made about $15.42 in over two hours, averaging slightly above $6 per hour.
Balancing Work and Family
Outside of deliveries, her videos also show glimpses of everyday life — grocery runs, meal prep, and caring for her children.

She shared picking up items like bread and yoghurt for her family, even joking about being unexpectedly “this tired or this hungry.” Despite the low earnings, she described it as “still a good day.”
Bringing Her Son Along
In a later video posted on April 12, she brought her 6-year-old son along for deliveries. The clip captured a more emotional side of her journey.

From excitement at the start to a fall along the way, the day tested both of them. However, she noted that her son remained unusually brave.
“Usually, if he falls, he’ll cry and ask to go home,” she shared.
They continued their deliveries despite the rain, taking shelter at a void deck before moving on.

The day ended with a small reward — sharing a pancake together at a fast food outlet.
She described it as “a day I’ll always remember.”
Day 3: Heat, Fatigue, and Small Gains

By April 14, she attempted the lunch rush despite still feeling unwell.

Orders came in quickly, but the challenges remained. She spoke about the intense heat and even getting lost inside a condominium for 20 minutes while trying to locate a unit.
Her earnings that day were lower — under $10 for about 1.5 hours of work — before she ended early after receiving a job interview call.
Taking a Pause
On Day 5, she chose not to go out for deliveries. Instead, she focused on reworking her resume after receiving limited responses from job applications.
“I only got that 1–2 interview,” she said.
She also reflected on the unexpected response to her TikTok videos, which reached over 35,000 views.
“I did this to document my journey,” she explained, adding that she is also exploring upskilling courses and pushing herself to create more content.
Realities of Gig Work
Her videos have sparked conversations about the realities of gig economy jobs — particularly delivery work often seen as flexible but physically demanding. From long hours walking under the sun to navigating unfamiliar locations, her experience highlights the effort behind each order.
At the same time, her content shows a different side — one of resilience, small victories, and adapting to change. Many viewers praised her honesty and determination, saying her videos shed light on struggles that are often overlooked.
Others shared their own experiences in delivery work, agreeing that it is far more demanding than it appears. Some also offered job advice and words of encouragement, urging her to keep going while exploring new opportunities.
A Journey Still Unfolding
While her situation remains uncertain, the mum continues to document her journey one day at a time.
Her story reflects a reality many face but rarely show — navigating job loss, financial pressure, and family responsibilities all at once.
For now, she keeps moving forward, one video at a time.
