A new project is taking Singaporeans on a trip back in time. A local developer is currently building a highly detailed version of Singapore from the early 1990s within the popular online platform Roblox.

The creator shared several images of the project online, showing famous sights that many older residents will remember clearly.
Capturing Local History
The digital world features iconic elements from Singapore’s past. One image shows a blue and white Housing and Development Board (HDB) block with the number 147 painted clearly on its side.

Outside the building, a vintage blue “Solace” taxi is parked, complete with a traditional license plate. Another scene captures long rows of laundry hanging on bamboo poles outside flat windows, a common sight in local neighborhoods.

The attention to detail extends to old traffic systems. The developer has recreated the “Restricted Zone” gantry, which was part of the Area Licensing Scheme used before modern electronic road pricing. These gantries featured bright yellow and green lights to tell drivers when they needed a paper permit to enter the city center.
Village Life and Modernity
Beyond the tall apartment buildings, the game also features a glimpse of traditional village life. One area shows a wooden building labeled “Masjid Kg. Sungai Sulung,” representing a community mosque in a kampong setting. Nearby, old-fashioned blue vans and yellow trucks are parked on a grassy patch, contrasting with the large HDB blocks visible in the background.

This project is more than just a game; it is a digital museum. By using Roblox, the creator allows younger people to explore a world that their parents and grandparents once lived in.

Every small detail, from the style of the windows to the specific colors of the vehicles, helps to recreate the unique atmosphere of Singapore three decades ago.

The developer continues to work on the map, adding more locations and refining the textures to make the experience feel as real as possible. For many, seeing these images brings back fond memories of a changing nation.
