After much speculations, it was revealed that Jamie Dornan has been cast to play Strider in the upcoming “Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum”.

The actor, most known to the world audience for his role in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” will be stepping into the shoes of Viggo Mortensen, who played the chief of the Northern Dúnedain Rangers/Aragorn in the original trilogy.
In a statement, director Andy Serkis expressed, “Across two trilogies, a mark of a Middle-earth film, has always been the formidable array of talent brought to bear in every role. The Hunt for Gollum continues in that tradition, and I am delighted to announce the return of two of Middle-earth’s most beloved performers, alongside some exceptionally talented new additions to Tolkien’s world.”

Another new addition is Leo Woodall, who will play Strider’s Dúnedain companion, Halvard. Kate Winslet is also playing a role, though the specifics were unclear.
On the other hand, fan favourite Lee Pace, will return as Thranduil following his performance of the character in “The Hobbit” trilogy.
It was previously revealed that “The Hunt for Gollum” takes place between “The Hobbit” trilogy and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, with Aragorn and Gandalf searching for Gollum to learn more information about Bilbo’s ring.
