A Singaporean man has shared how a message he initially dismissed as a scam led to an unexpected and heartwarming reunion with his lost passport.
The incident, which was later shared widely on social media, began with a WhatsApp message from a stranger claiming to have found his passport along a pedestrian walkway.
A Message He Almost Ignored
On 30 March, entrepreneur Steven Sit took to Facebook to recount the incident. He admitted that his first instinct was to ignore the message. At first glance, it looked suspicious. The sender had texted him saying they had found his passport and even attached a photo as proof.

“I thought it was a scam,” Mr Sit wrote, before adding that the situation quickly turned into a real-life lost-and-found story.
His passport, which carried only his Chinese name, Sit Poh Sang, had apparently been misplaced and was found by a migrant worker identified as Antony Raj.
The Stranger Who Became the Hero
Rather than handing it over and moving on, Antony Raj reportedly went a step further. Using the name on the passport, he searched online and managed to trace Mr Sit through his professional website as a financial services consultant. The effort paid off, as within just an hour, the passport was returned to its rightful owner.

Mr Sit described Antony Raj as the “hero of the day,” joking that he had taken on the role of a detective.
“He took on the challenge of tracking me down via Google, and after some sleuthing that would make Sherlock Holmes proud, he found me,” he wrote.
Just in Time for Malaysia Trip
The speedy return came as a huge relief for Mr Sit, who said he needed the passport for an upcoming hiking trip to Malaysia.

“Who knew that my passport had such a knack for drama?” he joked in his post.
He added that next time, he might need to keep it on a “tighter leash.” The light-hearted post quickly drew reactions online, with many praising Antony Raj for his honesty and determination.
Kindness That Moved Netizens
Commenters called the act thoughtful and selfless, with many highlighting the migrant worker’s integrity.
Some also asked whether Antony Raj had been rewarded for going the extra mile.
Mr Sit later shared that he had insisted on giving him something as a token of appreciation after Antony Raj initially hesitated to accept it. His wife also reportedly sent chocolates as a gesture of thanks.
The story has since resonated with many online, with netizens describing it as a reminder that small acts of honesty can make a big difference.
