The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and the United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) conducted a joint flight operation as part of the Cope Thunder Philippines 26-1 exercise over Basa Air Base in Pampanga on Thursday.

Footage shows FA-50PH Fighting Eagles flying alongside F-22 Raptors, performing aerial manoeuvres to showcase sky dominance.

“Building on a long-standing defence alliance, Cope Thunder 26-1 is designed to strengthen interoperability between the PAF and PACAF,” the PAF said in a statement.

The exercise aimed to strengthen coordination and operational synergy between the air forces of both countries.

“It also reflects a shared commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific region,” it added.

The Philippines’ sole fighter aircraft, the FA-50, has a maximum speed of Mach 1.5, which is equivalent to 1,140 miles per hour, and a range of 1,150 miles.

Meanwhile, the US Air Force’s premier 5th-generation air superiority fighter, F-22 ‘Raptor’, has a top speed of Mach 2.25, equivalent to 1,500 miles per hour, and a range of 1,800 miles.

According to the Philippines News Agency, almost 2,800 PAF and PACAF personnel took part in the exercise. This year’s Exercise Cope Thunder 26-1 is scheduled to continue until April 17.
