White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked if ‘the United States still considering withdrawing from NATO’ – and replied that Donald Trump ‘will be discussing’ it with the secretary general – as she addressed the media in DC on Wednesday.
“On NATO, can you tell me, is the United States still considering withdrawing from NATO? Is that still a possibility?” a reporter asked at the end of the briefing.
“It’s something the President has discussed, and I think it’s something the President will be discussing in a couple of hours with Secretary General Rutte, and perhaps you’ll hear directly from the President following that meeting later this afternoon,” she said.
Trump and NATO’s Mark Rutte are set to hold talks later tonight.
