The four astronauts set for the Artemis 2 mission around the Moon were seen ‘suiting up’ at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Wednesday.
Blast off for the 10-day journey around the Moon and back is scheduled for 18:24 local time, and would see the first mission to the Moon in over 50 years.
NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen are on the trip. The mission will test the Orion spacecraft’s life-support systems with a crew for the first time and lay the groundwork for future Artemis missions and a Moon landing.
It marks the first crewed flight around the Moon since the Apollo programme in the late 1960s and early 70s.
