Police in Valparaiso arrested a man dressed as Spider-Man after discovering by chance that the tourist favourite was wanted by authorities on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old was detained during a routine identity check carried out by Carabineros in the Plazuela Ecuador area. The suspect made a living performing in public spaces while dressed as the Marvel superhero, interacting with pedestrians and tourists and posing for photos.
According to officials, the man had an active arrest warrant issued in January for alleged threats and was considered a fugitive from justice.
Authorities also confirmed that he had a criminal record, including offences such as attempted homicide, public disorder, and involvement in fights.
He was arrested without incident and later taken into custody. He is expected to appear in court soon.
