The Malaysian forest gives the feeling of stepping into another world. The three peaks located at the foot of Fraser Hill on the Selangor-Pahang border. According to the video, Gunung Gap (1,183 m), Gunung Ulu Tranum (1,341 m) and Gunung Ulu Semangkok (1,394 m) are a unique experience for hikers. The total distance was 14 km.

Although the ascent is relatively easy, the descent can be tiring on the legs and muscles, but the misty trails and the mud-covered trees make all the hardships worthwhile. A permit and a guide are required to hike this route. The expedition was organized through a meetup with a local hiking group.
Guide and Permit Required
It is necessary to obtain a permit before starting the trek to Mount Ulu Semangkok. Initially, the trail is hidden in the bush, almost like a cave. The first few sections are very steep, which requires climbing by hand.

Then the dense bamboo forest appears, which makes the path even more mysterious. It is easy to get lost in this part without an experienced guide. Therefore, the expedition can be risky without a local guide and permission.
Reaching Gunung Gap
In front of the rest house near the head gap of the Ulu Semangkok Trail. The journey begins through a small gap in the path after the abandoned shop on the left side of the road. After a few minutes of steep climb, we reach the crest of the mountain. There, a stone mark indicating the Selangor and Pahang border can be seen.

After reaching the top of the first peak, Gunung Gap, there is a stone mark indicating the height. From this peak, the path continues for the next expedition.
Trail Features
The trail is steep and narrow but moderately visible. Mud and bushes make walking difficult at times. The trees and slopes covered in fog make the path more challenging. The scenic view of the Selangor-Pahang border is magnificent while walking along the crest of the mountain. Breathtaking scenery at every stage captivates the adventurers.

Reflection of the Experience
Not only the experience of the climbers but also the natural beauty of the trail is admirable. The misty forests, smooth trees and slow pace of the mountains are spectacular. Even though the path is long and the legs are tired during the descent, it is pleasant to connect with nature. This expedition gives a taste of new experiences. Therefore, it is a must-do for those who want to enjoy the scenic beauty of nature.

@thegonegoat_ 🌿 Mossy forests feel like stepping into another world and look so ethereal…I still can’t believe we have jungles this lush in Malaysia, just 2 hours away from KL. I hiked three peaks along the Selangor–Pahang border at the foot of Fraser’s Hill: Gunung Gap (1,183m), Gunung Ulu Tranum (1,341m), and Gunung Ulu Semangkok (1,394m). Total distance was 14km return. The climb itself was manageable, but the descent felt endless and absolutely wrecked my legs. Still, every misty trail and moss-covered tree made it worth it! ✌️If you’re planning this route, permits and a guide are required. This hike was done and organised with KL hiking group on Meetup.com which I highly recommend checking out! . . . . #hiking #kualalumpur #frasershill #malaysiatravel
