Explosion On Road
On 24 December last year, police from Don Hua Lor Police Station were alerted about an explosion on a road in Thailand. The victim told officers that an explosive device had fallen from her car and exploded, causing a loud noise and sparks. Fortunately, she was not hurt.

Police arrived at the scene with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to check the evidence. The officers discovered a homemade bomb made of four glass bottles, but only one bottle exploded. According to a video report, the incident caused panic in the local community.
Device and Fuel
Investigators explained that the bomb was attached to the car’s fuel tank and could be controlled remotely. However, it did not fully detonate and caused only minor damage to the vehicle. Police said the victim was safe and unharmed. They collected the device carefully for further examination. This type of improvised explosive device (IED) is very dangerous even if it only partially explodes.
Suspects Arrested Yesterday
Police later identified three suspects: 38-year-old Kasama, 34-year-old Somkid, and 34-year-old Thinnawat. They were arrested on 25 February in Chon Buri and Rayong provinces.

Officers seized several items from their homes, including a remote controller believed to be linked to the bomb, a vehicle used in the crime, and twenty other items. Kasama confessed she had learned her husband was unfaithful and believed the victim was his mistress.
Planning and Action
Kasama admitted hiring her two male colleagues, Somkid and Thinnawat, to help. She sent Thinnawat to install a tracking device in the victim undercover. Kasama and Somkid learned how to make the IED by watching YouTube videos. Later, they used a rented car with a fake registration plate to attach the device to the victim’s car. Police said their plan could have caused serious harm if the bomb fully exploded.
Legal Charges Filed
The three suspects are charged with attempted murder under Section 288 of the Criminal Law, which is punishable by half the sentence of a murder. The penalties applied in cases of murder are either the death penalty, life imprisonment, or 15 to 20 years in prison.

They were also accused of showing off with a possible explosion that could harm other people by Section 211, and they were sentenced to one to seven years of imprisonment and a fine of 140,000 baht. They are also charged with illegal possession of explosives as per Section 7 and face up to 20 years imprisonment with fines of 2,000 to 4,000 baht.
