Cesar Awards dismisses claims of Jim Carrey clone

The Cesar Awards is denying vehemently the notion that the man who made an honorary appearance at its event in Paris was not Jim Carrey himself.

Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the Cesar Awards, had to recently address the discussion regarding Carrey’s appearance, after many expressed suspicions that the person they saw giving a teary-eyed speech and then happily speaking to the reporters after the ceremony was not Jim Carrey himself.

This was further fuelled by drag artist Alexis Stone’s Instagram post soon after, who seemed to suggest that he had impersonated Carrey at the event when he shared images of prosthetics and a wig that resembled Carrey’s hairstyle that night.

“Jim Carrey’s visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation. Eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions. He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words,” Caulier said.

He added, “He came with his partner, his daughter, his grandson and 12 close friends and family members. His longtime publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry, who has made a film and two series with him, was there, and they were delighted to see each other again.”

It is noted that netizens were not convinced of the explanation, with many saying that Carrey has kept a relatively low profile in recent years. The actor was also known to be very sarcastic and cynical at award events, which was different from the Carrey they saw at the ceremony.
