The story of a young man’s career change in Punggol, Singapore, is now catching the attention of many. 27-year-old Reiner, who once studied engineering, is now busy running his own cafe business. His small but lively cafe serves matcha, coffee and various desserts. Reiner said that the beginning was very simple.

He first started working in a primary school canteen to earn extra income during school holidays. However, over time, his interest in coffee led him to a new path.
Pandemic-Inspired Pivot
During the Covid-19 pandemic, he used to watch various videos on making coffee at home. From there, the question arose in his mind—is it possible to make cafe-quality coffee at home? That curiosity gradually gave him the courage to change careers.

Currently, he serves popular drinks like Strawberry Matcha Latte and Classic Ice White to customers at his outlet called ‘Corner Pen’.
The Beginning of the Journey
Reiner’s journey to become an entrepreneur started on a very small scale. Initially, he used to sell vegetarian food in a primary school canteen. However, his interest in coffee grew during his work hours. Later, he realized that this interest could be turned into a profession.

So, he gradually devoted himself to the food and beverage sector. This decision turned his career around.
Impact of Covid
During the pandemic, many people got the opportunity to learn new skills. Reiner also used that time. He regularly watched videos on making espresso and coffee and practiced at home.

As a result, his confidence increased and he planned to start his own brand. Later, that plan became a reality. Now he is an example of inspiration for young entrepreneurs.
Invitation to Customers
Currently, Reiner’s cafe is gradually becoming known to customers in the Punggol area. He said that his main goal is to provide good-quality drinks at affordable prices.

So, he is adding new flavors of matcha and coffee to the menu. Besides, dessert items are also attracting customers. Reiner urges everyone to come and taste his drink if they have the chance.
