- Without a Gold Standard for the Diagnosis of Medical Conditions for Root Cause of Chronic Dizziness, Local Chiropractor Suggests New Diagnostic Term for Better Patient Care
- Book Discusses Singapore-Centric Patient Experiences, Treatment Methods and Care for Chronic Dizziness, From Medical Routes to Alternative Methods Accepted in Asia
25 February 2026, Singapore – Vitality Chiropractic proudly announces the publication of “Dealing with Dizziness: Holistic Solutions for Unexplained Chronic Dizziness, Vertigo, and Balance Problems”, showcasing stories from giddiness sufferers he has treated in Singapore, who were able to take back control of their lives after years of seeking for the right treatments.
An estimated 1.2 million people in Singapore suffer from chronic dizziness, with as many as 70% receiving no medical diagnosis due to “no abnormal results” with “no cure” for their ailment. Without a medical standard to define what many patients with chronic dizziness suffer from and one straightforward medical method of treatment and care, Shaan Daniel Rai, founder of Vitality Chiropractic, felt compelled to share his experiences in helping hundreds of patients in the last 10 years of his practice. His book is a compilation of patient case studies, an analysis of the gamut of medical terms and forms of treatments that patients have gone through in the hope of solving their persistent spinning they felt, with many finally being able to take back control of their lives.

Through his research for the book, Shaan realised that there is a lack of a definitive diagnosis to undercover the root cause of chronic dizziness. There is also no universal term for the multitude of conditions with large crossover which respond to the same interventions. After years of trying to explain and define the condition(s) to his patients, Shaan is proposing a new umbrella term that may help the industry look at the issues holistically to help patients – Chronic Vestibular Spectrum Disorder. Shaan believes this term encompasses the gamut of undiagnosed dizziness, chronic giddiness and vertigo cases that could be helped through chiropractic care.
Shaan’s focus is on Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care, which targets techniques in the upper neck, close to the brain stem. An often unexplored option, his treatment has helped a several hundred patients with dizziness regain control of their lives, where others could not.
“I am but one chiropractor with a passion and technique for upper cervical care. When I arrived in Singapore, I recognised the pain and disorientation that patients who suffer from chronic dizziness go through every day. Some of them were at their wit’s end when they ended up in my clinic, through referrals or research, with the hope that I would be the one who could help them. Their gratitude and relief struck a chord in me and I decided to find out more about dizziness in general and how chiropractic care can help,” says Shaan.

“The result is this book which I hope will fill in the gaps for dizziness suffers, and perhaps the medical community, so that we can help the 70% regain their lives.”
Vitality Chiropractic believes that managing upper cervical spine care is a key to improved health. The upper cervical spine protects the upper spinal cord and is adjacent to the brainstem. The upper spinal cord and brainstem both contain critical control centres for vital functions such as breathing, heart rate, cranial nerves and sleep cycles. A misalignment in the spine in this area may place excessive pressure on the nerves in the spinal cord, disrupting clear communication between the brain and body, leading to other medical conditions.
The chiropractic approach to healthcare is a comprehensive and non-invasive approach that emphasises the connection between the structure of the body, particularly the upper spinal cord, and its functioning. Unlike traditional medical practices, which often involve the use of medications or surgical procedures, the chiropractic approach focuses on the body’s inherent capacity for healing itself. The chiropractic approach is based on the belief that the musculoskeletal system is an essential component of overall health and that any misalignment or imbalance can disrupt the natural balance of the body and result in various health conditions, such as dizziness.
Last year, Vitality Chiropractic’s research papers on 3 patient case studies³ on how upper cervical chiropractic care helped patients, including improving the effects of dizziness, were published on international medical sites that will support research in upper cervical care through chiropractic treatment for facial pain and dizziness sufferers.
