Ride Malfunction Swings Visitors
A swinging Tunsami ride collapsed at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Fair in Faridabad, India, on 7/Feb. When one side broke off, many visitors were on the ride, and the ride vehicle crashed to the ground. People ran to safety screaming as a video revealed.
At least 12 people got injured, and one police officer was killed in the accident. This tragic incident has rocked the surrounding community and cast a big doubt on the safety of fairgrounds.
Killed Police Officer
Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who was on duty at the fair, lost his life during the incident. He died on X and was praised by the Haryana Police as a hero of bravery and devotion.

Inspector Jagdish died in the line of duty, they wrote, as he saved the citizens. Colleagues and the public have not forgotten his bravery and the dangers law enforcement officers risk when maintaining the safety of people at large events.
Instances of Immediate Response and Arrests
After the ride collapse, the authorities promptly commenced investigations on the accident. There was a first information report (FIR) that was registered, and two persons were arrested in regard to the incident. The police have added that the area of the ride is still closed as the investigation is going on.
Authorities are also considering safety measures at the fair to avoid future accidents. This measure, according to NDTV, is a direct reaction of the government to ensure accountability and safety.
Fair Reopened With Safety
The Surajkund fair continued on Sunday despite the tragedy, with other attractions running normally. The deputy commissioner posted that the swing area is temporarily closed as a precaution.

Every other cultural, craft, food and beverage, and entertainment program at the Mela location is entirely safe and operating effectively, the statement said. The organizers underlined that the visitors’ security is their number one priority, and the investigations conducted will inform any future actions.
Government Support Statement
The Haryana chief minister lamented the mishap on X and assured support for the injured and their families. Essential guidelines have been issued to treat victims immediately.

Authorities stressed that after such cases, an immediate and delicate response is essential so that all the affected individuals get assistance and attention.
Video Testimonies after the Crash
There are videos on the internet that explicitly indicate the time when the ride failed. PEOPLE says that one can watch the ride spinning and then crashing down due to a structural failure. The panic of visitors in leaving the scene is another video that NDTV has received. These videos have sensitized us to the possible risks at amusement fairs and the significance of safety checks prior to being put in use.
