A short and funny cat video is going viral online and making people smile around the world. The video, about 90 seconds long, was posted by a cat-focused account with the caption “Store manager being harassed by customer.” At first glance, it looks like a normal shop scene, but within seconds, viewers realize something unusual and hilarious is happening.
The camera is also fixed in a little pharmacy or convenience store where the video is shot. The counter also displays shelves of toothpaste, medicine, and daily items, most of which have Chinese labels. All appearances are of calm and banality, but then the viewers realize that there is a chubby tabby cat, who is just sitting on the counter, literally on top of some product boxes, trying to be their owner.
A Cat Running the Counter
The cat is seated up straight, carefree and confident, and resembles a shop worker at work. It is not in a hurry and appears to be quite content with its position. The scene is even more humorous, as there are not even any human staff members in sight. Video footage of the cat shows that it does not move out of the counter during the length of the clip.
In a short time, a man in a blue shirt and glasses approaches the counter. Rather than addressing the cat by calling his/her name, he begins speaking to the cat. His hands are waving, his fingers pointing, and his body performing certain movements like an explanation or request. His behavior resembles that of a desperate customer seeking a refund, product info, or directions.
The Longest-Suffering Manager of All Time
The man is also talking continuously throughout the video. Amazingly, the cat does not respond with any fear or anger. It just gazes at the man in a composed, concentrated manner. The cat raises a paw at times very gradually, possibly as an inquiry or in reply to an invitation. According to video reactions online, this small movement is one of the funniest parts.
The cat never jumps down, hisses, or looks annoyed. Instead, it quietly accepts the attention, just like an experienced retail worker dealing with a difficult customer. It is this peaceful treatment that makes this video so special.
Why the Internet Loves It
The comedy is based on the reversal of roles. The cat plays the role of a strict store manager, and the human plays the role of an ungrateful client. The cat is made the face of the shop, as there are no other staff around.
The film perfectly fits the common belief of cats being secretly in control, or at least, this store. This simple moment, captured by one camera, has turned into a classic cute and funny animal clip, showing how a calm cat can steal the spotlight without doing much at all.
